I've been making art all my life
and have been creating

comforted in difficult times.
Sadly, the only photograph of her
spunky kittenhood is the old crumpled one
printed from the ad
where I found her.
Now she's gone
and I SO wish I had a
huge canvas portrait of that
tiny fur ball flying through the air
toward me across the floor.
It would just make me smile
every time I see it,
and remember her loving cuteness.
Sure, I have a lot of portraits of her,
but not as that teeny tiny
tuxedo-suited little 2 month-old
fuzzball.
As a portrait photographer,
I integrated her adult images
right in there with my other beloved
family members.
And I smile from ear to ear
every time I see them!
She is alive and well
in my heart and on my wall!

Why Penumbra Blue?
I don't have a middle name (dad had too many!).
So back in high school my friends helped me choose one by pointing with closed eyes
on a random page in a giant dictionary.
And there it was: "penumbra" --
the secondary shadow at the edge
of the shadow (umbra) of the moon.
Or, as I prefer,
the shadow of the shadow of the moon.
And "Bl
